Shanchol Oral Vaccine
Products highlights
In Prevention of Cholera Cholera is a dangerous disease that can cause death if not treated right away. It is caused by a germ called Vibrio cholerae, and is spread most often through contaminated food or water. Shanchol Oral Vaccine works by causing the body to produce its own protection (antibodies) against the bacteria. This vaccine is generally recommended for individuals who are traveling to areas where cholera infection is common. However, while traveling, it is important that you avoid contaminated food or water. This vaccine is taken by mouth and you should avoid eating, drinking, and taking any other medicines by mouth for an hour before and after taking the vaccine, as this may make it less effective.

Description
Shanchol Oral Vaccine helps prevent cholera. It can be given to anyone above the age of 1 year orally. Two doses are given at an interval of at least two weeks. The protective effect begins within 7-10 days of completion of the vaccination schedule. Cholera vaccine is usually given orally (by mouth) as a single dose. This vaccine is a powder that is mixed with water before you take it. You will receive this mixture in a clinic or other healthcare setting. This vaccine should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 1 hour after eating. The most common side effects include fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching, rashes, nausea, weakness, cough, vertigo, and dryness in the mouth. They do not normally last very long. Sitting or lying down can sometimes help. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worry you. Before having the Shanchol Oral Vaccine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to a vaccine. Some other medicines may react with the cholera vaccine so talk to your doctor about other medications you are taking as well. You should consult your doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
