COSACOL contains mesalamine (mesalamine), which belongs to the salicylate class of drugs. It is an anti-inflammatory medication that is used to treat and prevent mild-to-moderate Ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel illness that causes inflammation of the gut, colon, and rectum linings.

COSACOL reduces inflammation by acting locally in the colon and rectum. It can also help to avoid future flare-ups of ulcerative colitis. Along with this medication, your doctor may advise you to stop smoking and drinking alcohol, eat simple meals, and drink plenty of water. Your doctor may perform blood and urine tests before to treatment to assess the function of your kidneys

Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. With a glass of water, swallow the entire dose of medicine. COSACOL should not be used concurrently with lactulose or other anti-inflammatory medications since it increases the risk of negative effects. Regular monitoring of your liver, kidneys, and blood is necessary during treatment to avoid any undesirable or dangerous effects. If you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding, see your doctor before using this medication. Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and headache are the most typical side effects of this medication.
