FENAP AQ contains Diclofenac which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which reduces pain and inflammation. It is used to treat mild to moderate and severe painful conditions such as flare ups of joint or back pain, attacks of gout, pain caused by kidney stones, injuries, fractures or trauma. It is also used in hospital settings to prevent or treat pain following an operation.

Diclofenac is a NSAID which exhibits anti-inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic activities. It involves inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) and it is a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis in vitro. Prostaglandins sensitize afferent nerves and potentiate the action of bradykinin in inducing pain and mediators of inflammation. Diclofenac is an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis; its mode of action may be due to a decrease of prostaglandins in peripheral tissues.

Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. The common side effects are pain, redness, and burning at the injection site.
