Description

INTRODUCTION

NANO 0.05% contains Cyclosporin which belongs to the group of medicines called immunosuppressive agents. It is used to treat severe keratitis (inflammation of the cornea) in adults. It can also increase tear production in a condition called dry eyes where the tear produced is suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

Cyclosporin works by decreasing inflammation in the eye and by increasing tear production. It lubricates your eye and reduces discomfort. Wash your hands before and after application. Make sure to remove your contact lenses before the application of eye drops. It can be reinserted 15 minutes after application. Patients with decreased tear production should typically avoid wearing contact lenses because they can further damage your cornea.

Apply for this medicine as directed by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. The most common side effects of using this medicine are eye irritation, pain and itching and blurred vision. Avoid travelling or driving until your vision becomes clear. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you have any eye infection or cancer in your eye. This medicine is not recommended for use in children aged below 18 years of age.

HOW NANO 0.05% WORKS

Cyclosporine is a calcineurin inhibitor that inhibits the activation of T-lymphocytes (cells catalyzing immune reaction) and various cytokines (e.g. IL-1, IL-2) involved in the regulation of T-cell activation. Decreased T-cell activation reduces inflammation or swelling in the eye, increases tear production and lubricates your eye and reduces discomfort.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply for this medicine as directed by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. The recommended dose is 1 drop in each affected eye, once daily at bedtime. Pull down your lower eyelid and tilt your head backwards. Gently squeeze a drop of the medicine onto your eye. If required, repeat the steps for another eye.
