Quifix MS Syrup is given to children to treat bacterial infections of the teeth, lungs, digestive system, urinary tract and genitals. This drug is also given as an empirical antibiotic to treat bloody diarrhea and serious infections such as peritonitis.

Give your child Quifix MS Syrup by mouth, preferably at a set time, before or after a meal. If your child develops an upset stomach, it is best given with meals. In general, this drug is prescribed twice a day, morning and evening.If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking it, repeat the same dose but do not double the dose when it is time for the next dose. Never change the dose, time and method prescribed by the doctor as they depend on the type and severity of the infection, the age and weight of the child.

In some cases, this drug can cause minor and temporary side effects, including nausea, vomiting, weight loss, metallic taste, headache, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, and a mild rash. These side effects are temporary and will go away as the child gets used to the medicine. If the side effects don't go away or start bothering your child, see your pediatrician right away.
