What RAZEL GOLD is used for?

It is used to prevent,

  • blood clots  which can lead to atherothrombotic events such as stroke, heart attack, or death
  • atherosclerosis
  • peripheral arterial disease
  • atrial fibrillation
  • high cholesterol level

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, If you

  • are allergic to Aspirin, asthma attack or swelling of some parts of the body
  • have or ever had an ulcer in your stomach or small intestine
  • ever had the problem of your blood not clotting properly
  • are suffering from gout
  • have severe liver or kidney problems
  • suffer from blood disorder that makes you prone to internal bleeding
  • have planned for a surgery 
  • have had a clot in an artery of your brain (ischemic stroke)
  • have had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains
  • have thyroid problem
  • are over 70 years of age
  • have severe respiratory failure
  • consume alcohol

  • thinning of the blood/prevention of clots (e.g. warfarin, heparin, phenindione and clopidogrel)
  • organ rejection after transplantation (e.g. ciclosporin, tacrolimus)
  • high blood pressure (e.g. diuretics and ACE-inhibitors)
  • regulation of the heart beat (digoxin)
  • manic-depressive illness (lithium)
  • pain and inflammation (e.g. anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, or steroids)
  • gout (e.g. probenecid)
  • epilepsy (valproate, phenytoin)
  • glaucoma (acetazolamide)
  • cancer or rheumatoid arthritis (e.g. methotrexate)
  • diabetes (e.g. glibenclamide)
  • depression (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as sertraline or paroxetine or moclobemide)
  • iron salts (for treatment of iron deficiency anaemia)
  • darbonates (treatment of peptic ulcer and reflux)
  • alkali hydroxides (antacids)
  • heparin or any other injectable medicine used to reduce blood clotting, ticlopidine, other antiplatelet agent
  • a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (including but not restricted to fluoxetine or fluvoxamine), medicines usually used to treat depression
  • omeprazole or esomeprazole, medicines to treat upset stomach
  • fluconazole or voriconazole, medicines to treat fungal infections
  • carbamazepine, a medicine to treat some forms of epilepsy
  • repaglinide, medicine to treat diabetes
  • paclitaxel, medicine to treat cancer
  • fibrates (such as gemfibrozil, fenofibrate) or any other medicine used to lower cholesterol (such as ezetimibe)
  • erythromycin (an antibiotic)
  • an oral contraceptive (the pill)
  • HIV or hepatitis C infection such as ritonavir, lopinavir

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • You can take RAZEL GOLD orally with or without food, and at the same time each day

If you take more RAZEL GOLD

  • Contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department because of the increased risk of bleeding.

If you forget to take RAZEL GOLD

  • If you forget to take a dose of tablet but remember within 12 hours of your usual time, take your tablet straightaway and then take your next tablet at the usual time
  • If you forget for more than 12 hours, simply take the next single dose at the usual time
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet

If you stop taking RAZEL GOLD

  • Do not stop the treatment unless your doctor tells you so

  • sudden wheezing, swelling of your lips, face or body, rash, fainting or difficulties swallowing (severe allergic reaction)
  • reddening of the skin with blisters or peeling and may be associated with a high fever and joint pains
  • unusual bleeding, such as coughing up blood, blood in your vomit or urine, or black stools
  • fever, signs of infection or extreme tiredness
  • signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and/or the eyes (jaundice)
