SPENTRON 1MG TABLET contains a medicine Granisetron which belongs to a group of medicines called Anti-emetics. It is used to prevent or treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) caused by other medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer.

Before taking SPENTRON 1MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have heart diseases, blockage in your stomach or intestines, electrolyte abnormalities, galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

SPENTRON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. Consult with your doctor before taking it. SPENTRON 1MG TABLET should not be used in children below 2 years of age. SPENTRON 1MG TABLET can be used in elderly people (65 years and older). However, consult with your doctor before taking it.

The most common side effects are headache, constipation, problems sleeping (insomnia), and diarrhoea. Consult with your doctor if any of these worsen or don’t improve.

HOW SPENTRON 1MG TABLET WORKS:

    SPENTRON 1MG TABLET acts by inhibiting a receptor called 5-HT3 receptors present which presents both in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. This inhibition of 5-HT3 receptors in turn inhibits the stimulation of the vomiting centre, preventing nausea and vomiting.

SIDE EFFECTS OF SPENTRON 1MG TABLET:

    Stop taking SPENTRON 1MG TABLET and inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • Changes in the heartbeat, chest pain, irregular heartbeat and changes seen on ECG readings (electrical recordings of the heart).
  • Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips and mouth or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing.
  • Rash or itching.
  • Fainting.
  • Serotonin syndrome symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, high temperature and blood pressure, excessive sweating and rapid heartbeat, agitation, confusion, hallucination, shivering, muscle shakes, jerks or stiffness, loss of coordination and restlessness.
