XONDMET TABLET contains Ondansetron, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-emetics. It is used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy or radiotherapy. XONDMET TABLET is also used after surgeries (operations) to prevent nausea and vomiting.

Before taking XONDMET TABLET, inform your doctor if you have severe constipation, heart or liver problems, imbalance with the levels of salts in the blood, such as potassium, sodium, and magnesium, or if you have been scheduled for any surgery.

XONDMET TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy. This medicine may pass through the breast milk hence it is not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

The dose of XONDMET TABLET will depend on the age, body weight, and disease condition of your child. Dosage adjustment is not required in elderly patients, hence consult your doctor before taking XONDMET TABLET.

USES OF XONDMET TABLET:

  • Used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.

HOW XONDMET TABLET WORKS:

    XONDMET TABLET is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist (specific chemical receptor) which works by blocking serotonin receptors in the CTZ chemoreceptor trigger zone (zone in the brain that is responsible for causing nausea and vomiting).

SIDE EFFECTS OF XONDMET TABLET:

    RARE

  • Visual disturbances like blurred vision.
  • Effects of heart rhythms resulting in feeling lightheaded or loss of consciousness.
  • Stop taking XONDMET TABLET and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • Sudden wheezing and chest pain or tightness .
  • Swelling of eyelids, face, lips, mouth, or tongue .
  • Skin rash, red spots or lumps under your skin (hives) or anywhere on the body .
